From: Maya Ortiz To: North Creek Survey Team Subject: Saturday marsh bird survey: route notes and weather window Date: Wed, 15 Jul 2026 08:14:32 -0400 Hi everyone, Thanks again for signing up for this weekend's citizen-science bird survey at North Creek Marsh. We are still on for Saturday, July 18, with a 6:15 a.m. meet-up at the west lot by the canoe launch. A few route notes: - Transects 1 and 2 are dry enough for regular boots. - Transect 3 still has standing water near marker 3C, so please bring rubber boots if you are assigned there. - The east boardwalk is open again, but please keep groups to two observers at a time. - We will use the standard 5-minute point counts and submit final checklists through eBird by Sunday evening. The current forecast shows light cloud cover and low wind until about 10:30 a.m., which should give us a good survey window. If thunderstorms move in earlier, I will send a cancellation note by 5:15 a.m. Please remember to bring binoculars, a charged phone, water, and a pencil as backup for the field sheets. We will meet at the library study room at 1:00 p.m. to review the checklists and upload anything that was recorded on paper.
